2014 - 2019 Results!!

Welcome to the 7th Annual 2020 OAK BLUFFS BLUEWATER CLASSIC.
This annual event is held at Oak Bluffs Marina. The event welcomes 40 to 50 vessels each year of all shapes and sizes. The OBBC continues to raise funds for the Island Autism Group (more on Autism) of Martha's Vineyard and the MGH Colon Cancer Research Fund in memory of Kevin Glynn. This year, the event will be donating all proceeds to the Island Food Pantry in light of the adverse affects from Covid-19 on local residents. For more info please visit http://islandfoodpantry.org/

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, we are making some adjustments and additions to the event to help improve the overall experience for everyone involved. We are adding an all NEW Phone Application that will be available for participants and the general public. This new APP will allow everyone to closely monitor catch stats and participant information in real time throughout the event.

The Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic offers a very unique format for all vessels fishing in the New England area. Boats can fish from any port. The tournament requires vessels to weigh in on Martha's Vineyard in Oak Bluffs, but boats can depart from whichever port they choose. This year the tournament will offer two different registration locations, the main one in Oak Bluffs and a second location in Falmouth at MacDougals Marina. Captain's bags and packets can be picked up and calcuttas can be registered on Tuesday July 14th at both locations. Complimentary food and beer will be provided at both locations (provided state laws allow). Worse case we will simply adjust accordingly to ensure the safest environment for everyone involved. Our awards ceremony may be canceled and if so we will add 250 dollars more per boat into the overall prize money. This extra prize money will be distributed to 2nd and 3rd place boats. Prize money and awards will be given out on Saturday July 18th. All awards will be filmed and broadcast on the OBBC app IPTV section for all to see. Special arrangements will be made for any crews unable to make it over to the island.

This event will always be open to the public, catering to all fishing enthusiasts with vessels that have the range to fish in the vicinity of northeast canyons. The OBBC encompasses an overnight adventure, allowing entrants to fish two straight days before returning to the dock. The OBBC encompasses 4 fishing days to choose from. Boats can fish 2 out of 4 days. Fishing days must be declared ahead of time on the day before departure. See Rules Page for details. Vessels will be able to depart from any port. All vessels will be required to text in a picture of their chartplotter to tournament staff at time of departure. This is an all species event, which includes bluefin tuna.

We will continue working closely with the town of Oak Bluffs to provide the public with a family friendly environment involving reputable vendors and local businesses, as well as entertainment and education on pelagic species.

Participants can expect top quality complimentary captain's packages and food/provisions for all vessels. Participants can also expect a posted calcutta board which will be available the entire event on island and also online on the new OBBC event Phone APP. Entrants can also expect top notch marina hospitality at both Oak Bluffs and Falmouth locations. Come help us celebrate the island lifestyle!
